Why Annual Maintenance Matters
A heat pump that gets annual maintenance runs 25–30% more efficiently than one that doesn't. It also lasts 5–7 years longer on average. Most heat pump manufacturer warranties require annual professional maintenance to stay valid — skipping it can void your coverage.
What Our Tune-Up Includes
- Check and top up refrigerant levels (if needed)
- Clean evaporator and condenser coils
- Inspect and clean air filters (or replace if needed)
- Check all electrical connections and tighten as needed
- Inspect and lubricate fan motors
- Check defrost cycle operation
- Test thermostat calibration and response
- Inspect condensate drain and clear blockages
- Measure airflow across indoor unit
- Check outdoor unit for debris, damage, or airflow restriction
- Full system run test — heating and cooling mode
- Written service report with findings and recommendations
We recommend fall tune-ups (September–November) before the heating season begins, or spring (March–May) before summer cooling demand peaks. Booking in shoulder season means faster scheduling and often better pricing.
How Often Does a Heat Pump Need Servicing?
Once a year is the standard recommendation for most residential heat pumps. If your system runs year-round (which most do in Greater Vancouver's climate), twice a year — spring and fall — gives optimal performance and catches problems early.
Filter Maintenance Between Service Calls
Most heat pump filters should be checked every 1–3 months and cleaned or replaced as needed. A clogged filter is the single most common cause of reduced performance and is easy to prevent. We'll show you exactly how to check and clean your filter during your first service call.
